Summary

Family is power。 The Original vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago。 They pledged to remain together always and forever。 But even when you're immortal, promises are hard to keep。

Arriving in New Orleans in 1722, Original vampire siblings Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson believe they've escaped their dangerous past。 But the city is lawless, a haven for witches and werewolves unwilling to share territory。 The siblings are at their mercy…especially after Klaus meets the beautiful and mysterious Vivianne。 Her impending marriage is key to ending the war between the supernatural factions—and Klaus's attraction to her could destroy the uneasy alliance。 As Elijah works toward securing a piece of the city for his family, and Rebekah fights her unexpected feelings for a French captain, will Klaus's volatile desires bring their world crashing down—and tear them apart for good?

This book was meh, I didn't dislike it but I didn't enjoy it either。 It was fine as books go but I think the thing that annoyed me the most was that there was no reason for me not love it but yet I still didn't。 I felt that reading it was a bit of a chore and I was very aware of how many pages I had read。 I liked that each chapter followed either Rebekah, Elijah or Klaus and that it went in turns, but other than that I don't have much else to say about the book。 I do own the other two books in t This book was meh, I didn't dislike it but I didn't enjoy it either。 It was fine as books go but I think the thing that annoyed me the most was that there was no reason for me not love it but yet I still didn't。 I felt that reading it was a bit of a chore and I was very aware of how many pages I had read。 I liked that each chapter followed either Rebekah, Elijah or Klaus and that it went in turns, but other than that I don't have much else to say about the book。 I do own the other two books in the series but I'm just not interested in reading them, this one was enough for me。 。。。more

This is something that I didn't really see in the book though and I wanted it to be explored more。 。。。more

Elijah's Point of view is the most Intriguing Part。 Because he's the only one who took every effort to secure his family。 So It was interesting to read what how far he went for that cause。 I was feeling so overwhelmed while reading。 Because I have been waiting for a long time to read about originals。 It was like dream came true moment。 My most favorite character is Obviously Klaus。 I loved the way he desired Vivianne。 His love made my heart long for klaus。。 I wish klaus loved me instead of her。。 Elijah's Point of view is the most Intriguing Part。 Because he's the only one who took every effort to secure his family。 So It was interesting to read what how far he went for that cause。 I was feeling so overwhelmed while reading。 Because I have been waiting for a long time to read about originals。 It was like dream came true moment。 My most favorite character is Obviously Klaus。 I loved the way he desired Vivianne。 His love made my heart long for klaus。。 I wish klaus loved me instead of her。。 I Despised Vivianne。 Even though she received more love than she deserves, she always made choices that would leave klaus devastated。 So I depised her。 The negative role is none other than klaus。 I felt that he's the one who always brings trouble to his siblings because of his selfish desire。 He's also warned Rebekah that he would stake her。 I feared him so many times。 。。。more

I've recently finished the The Vampire Diaries (series), and this was the perfect read to soothe my withdrawal symptoms。 It's a bit slow to start but in the thick of it, very action packed, and I could easily envision the characters and their personalities thanks to watching them in the show。 I've recently finished the The Vampire Diaries (series), and this was the perfect read to soothe my withdrawal symptoms。 It's a bit slow to start but in the thick of it, very action packed, and I could easily envision the characters and their personalities thanks to watching them in the show。 。。。more

3。5 Rating。 I enjoyed the book because I love Klaus in anything! I did not like how each chapter switched from character to character。 Towards the end the chapters started to merge the characters together which made it much more enjoyable。 With that being said, I am excited to start book 2 "The Loss"。 3。5 Rating。 I enjoyed the book because I love Klaus in anything! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It was okay but more of a tragic romance thing。 I didn’t like how the same story happened twice, thru Rebecca and Klaus。 The whole time Klaus isn’t described as himself and it’s supposed to be he is in love and the best of him is shown but Klaus trusted her uncharacteristically fast。 There’s no real growth in any of the characters, Klaus learns to trust less? Rebecca learns of what loss is like。。。again and Elijah learned nothing? All and all the story was alright to read just not a favorite。

It is 1722 and Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah have fled from Mikael to New Orleans。 It was a slow start but turned around。 I did really enjoy the book and purchased it after watching the series。 I am looking forward to reading the sequel because I am very curious to see what happens next。 A great read and a must-read for the Originals lovers out there。

This is the story of the Originals I never knew I needed。 I prefer The Originals over The Vampire Diaries and of course we know a lot about their past, but this is their origin in New Orleans。 This is a story where ‘always and forever’ gets tested from all sides。 I loved it。The story is told from three perspectives: Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah。 And this is maintained structural throughout the book, with connected storylines yet adventures on their own。 It helps you connect with the various charact This is the story of the Originals I never knew I needed。 I prefer The Originals over The Vampire Diaries and of course we know a lot about their past, but this is their origin in New Orleans。 This is a story where ‘always and forever’ gets tested from all sides。 I loved it。The story is told from three perspectives: Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah。 And this is maintained structural throughout the book, with connected storylines yet adventures on their own。 It helps you connect with the various characters, but also get impatient to continue the story of the other characters。The characters are very like how we know them in the tv series (thank you Julie Plec)。 I knew the books of The Vampire Diaries are different from the tv series, so I prepared myself just in case。 The only thing different with these books compared to the tv series is that you have to imagine their accents in your head (oh, yeah, it did naturally happen sometime halfway) and thankfully the use of old and difficult vocabulary is left out。Even though the plot is a bit predictable if you’re familiar with the series – if you aren’t, I am not sure if you will enjoy it as much – it makes it very recognizable for fans and you are still rooting for happy endings。 Even though you know where the characters are many years later and how they end up。I am very curious to see where this book series leads us to in the other two parts。 Thankfully I bought them all at the same time so hopefully I will find a moment soon with my huge TBR pile 。。。more

Rating: 3。5 stars。I love Klaus and the original family so naturally, I had to pick up this trilogy, and I have to say I enjoyed it more than I expected to。 The writing doesn't stray from their character arc's, backstory, or personality's much。 Klaus' storyline was in my opinion a little unexpected of him but that is just my opinion。 If you love the original family and The Originals tv show you would enjoy this book。 Rating: 3。5 stars。I love Klaus and the original family so naturally, I had to pick up this trilogy, and I have to say I enjoyed it more than I expected to。 The writing doesn't stray from their character arc's, backstory, or personality's much。 Klaus' storyline was in my opinion a little unexpected of him but that is just my opinion。 If you love the original family and The Originals tv show you would enjoy this book。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book! Definitely worth the read if you are a fan of the show。We follow the three Mikaelson's as they attempt to build their empire within New Orleans, and we see each of their journeys in this book through their separate perspectives。 Klaus, ever the romantic, is besotted with a witch who is betrothed to a werewolf in an attempt to retain peace between witches and werewolves within the city。 Elijah is has his mind set on acquiring the three of them land and place to call ho I really enjoyed this book!

I loved making my way through The Originals TV series after watching The Vampire Diaries and being a big fan of this universe, I was glad to come across The Originals book。 It was great to read more about their past lives of Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah and contains all the spark, magic and chaos of the show。 Written well and extremely in keeping with the TV series, the characters and their interactions were spot on and I was quite frankly more than happy to spend a bit more time with the Originals I loved making my way through The Originals TV series after watching The Vampire Diaries and being a big fan of this universe, I was glad to come across The Originals book。 It was great to read more about their past lives of Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah and contains all the spark, magic and chaos of the show。 Written well and extremely in keeping with the TV series, the characters and their interactions were spot on and I was quite frankly more than happy to spend a bit more time with the Originals trio and all the troubles they get up to。 Which was a lot。 As you can imagine。 Werewolf battles, run ins with witches, murder death and blood。 Pretty much what you’d expect from a book about vampires! 。。。more
